The most standard item at all receptions is the cake.  Large, small, flavored, or plain the cake is a wedding tradition.  The use of fresh flowers as the wedding topper and decorations have become the norm.  One tradition that has not changed is the Bride and Groom cutting the first piece.   Brides are choosing to get extremely creative with their cakes by picking unique flavors and colors. The traditional white cake with white frosting in still the front runner. But, go wild if you want and select something different.

Go over all your options with your baker.

Additionally, Brides are really reaching out to make their wedding cake experience extra special with items such as "cake pulls".  These trinkets are small charms on long ribbons which make great wedding keepsakes.  Most cake decorators recommend laying the pulls under the edge of the cake and not actually baking them in.  At the wedding, each bridesmaids "pulls" a charm and each charm has its own meaningful sentiment.  Cake plateaus are also very popular this season as a way to beautifully display a cake (Cake Plateau pictured to left www.thetwiggery.com) These can be rented or purchased. Some cake companies will provide them as well.

The Grooms Cake should reflect his personality or favorite hobby. Golf cakes, sports cakes and others are growing in popularity.
