Chelsey and Jon 1-27-2008
How we met Chelsey: Jon and I met on campus at the U of A. I was actually on the phone with my mother and hung up very quickly after whispering over the phone, "I just saw the man I'm going to marry." Through a series of events throughout the day we eventually met that night for ice cream and a movie and haven't been apart since.
The proposal I don't think there is anyway to put this story in "short form". Jon had come down for the weekend and actually didn't even have the ring with him. I went to a bridal fair in Little Rock on Sunday with my mom and some friends and Jon got in his car and drove all the way to Fayetteville to get the ring and his tent. Now the tent is vital in the story for those of you who don't know about it. Jon slept in a tent in the front yard of my house when he came to visit as a point for us to resist temptaition and I was not allowed in his tent AT ALL. So i got home from the bridal fair that evening and was all excited about wedding stuff and knowing that I didn't have ring but still wanted to talk about it. Well Jon had other plans. He took me outside to "look at the stars" and before I knew it I was blindfolded. He put me on his back and started walking toward the pond (of course I didn't know where we were going because I was blindfolded). He sits me down in this seat (still blindfolded) and starts reading scripture that means a lot to the both of us. Next thing I know he was washing my feet in FREEZING cold water that he swears was hot when he took it out there. Finally the blindfold came off and I saw we were in his tent with candles EVERYWHERE. He started to take off his necklace telling me how much he loved me and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Somewhere I got the idea that he was was about to propose with his necklace so I jokingly stated, "If you're thinking about proposing to me with your necklace you have another thing coming." Then he said, "Chels...I love you and....will you marry me?" (On one knee I might add) I looked down and realized that he had pulled my ring off the back of his necklace. I cried, I screamed...and I cried and I screamed and then realized that my poor and wonderful man was still sitting there with my ring, waiting on an answer. Pretty sure I SCREAMED "yes" at the top of my lungs. We sat there and held each other. Then Jon in his never failing faith and dedication, brought out the bread and the wine (grape juice) so we could take communion. Jon always takes communion when starting something new in life so he can start on a clean slate and wanted that for the both of us. It was amazing and couldn't have been better.
Jon and Chelsey have set their wedding date for August 8, 2008.

Robby and Christy 3-29-2003
The first time that Robby and I saw each other, I was cheerleading for our college basketball team in Oklahoma. He had just transferred into our school that semester to play football, and he was with the New Student Orientation group. My good friend, Matt introduced us at the game. It turned out that we had a class together that Spring. We talked a few times, and I always thought he was cute. At the end of the semester, I had to attend a banquet for our school and I needed a date. I talked with our friend, Matt, to see if Robby would want to go with me. He did the whole elementary school thing and talked to Robby for me! Matt told me he thought it was a good idea, so I called Robby and asked him out to the Junior/Senior banquet! He hesitated and said he would have to call me back, I was nervous! Then he called me back and told me he would love to go, and after that date on May 5, 2000, we have been together ever since.
Our engagement story is written from Robby's perspective on the night. He thought it would be creative to have a guy's point of view! So here is our engagement story!!!
FROM ROBBY: I have always thought that the engagement itself is a pretty big event that will be remembered forever. So with that in mind I planned a fairly large and unforgettable way of proposing. I purchased the ring in January but was waiting for just the right time. The ring was eating a whole in my pocket but I was waiting for a special day and a day that I knew she would be totally surprised. March 26th was that day.
Spring in Oklahoma is usually windy and cold but for some wonderful reason Tuesday the 26th was 68 degrees with not a trace of wind and a sky that was amazingly blue. I called Christy at her office sometime just after five and told her that my class that evening was cancelled and that I wanted to take her on that fun and exciting date I had been promising. I could tell she was really excited because with our busy schedules we are not able to have very many of these date nights. I met her at her house shortly after we got off the phone where I told her to wear something somewhat dressy and that we had reservations at seven. For those of you who know Christy well, you will understand why I put some limitations on her preparation time. She looked beautiful when she came out of the room and I was trying so hard to act calm so that she wouldn't think there was anything unusual about our date.
We left the house and drove just up the rode a couple of miles to the local airport. When we pulled in I explained that our good friend Chris had called me earlier that day and asked me if I wanted to go flying with him that night. Chris is a flight instructor at the local airport (he did a great job playing dumb in order to help me pull this event off). Christy was bubbly with a little nervous energy when I told her we were going to fly over the city and around the skyline that spring night. We took off without a bump and flew around the city on that beautiful Tuesday night. Christy had a beautiful sparkle in her eye and I knew that a proposal was the last thing going through her mind. After a few turns around the city, we headed back toward the airport all the while pointing out the landmarks that were familiar to us. As we neared the football stadium, she was quick to point out the place where I play. With a perfectly timed flip of the switch, 10,000 sparkling christmas lights illuminated the night sky in the formation of "Will You MARRY ME ?" on the football field. Unknown to her, several friends and myself had worked very hard to make this happen earlier in the day. When she turned around, she had the brightest smile I have ever seen. I opened the box and presented her with the ring and asked the question that she had just seen on the ground 1,000 feet below... "Will You MARRY ME?". She was so excited and quickly said "Yes!". We were both so excited and after visiting with friends, we enjoyed a nice dinner at a local restaurant. The night was definitely a success!
FROM CHRISTY: What can I say? Robby did a wonderful job! I was completely surprised, and we are coming down to the last couple of months before the wedding! We can't wait!
