Photography

Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable moments of your life. Photography is one of the best ways to capture it. If possible start looking for a photographer about 9 to 12 months prior to your wedding.  The best way to begin is by asking your friends and family for recommendations or go to a reliable source such as Wedding Ideas Magazine. (We have several reliable photographers[such as Larry Odom Photography pictured left www.focusphotographybylarryodom.com] with a variety of prices and packages to accommodate your needs)

When you are interviewing photographers, you need to take time to see their portfolio. Make notes of photos and poses you like and make sure their previous work is of the quality you desire.  Go for a photographer that can capture and document your day. You want them to be able freeze all your special and intimate moments not just take a good posed photo. The beautiful bride pictured to the right was photographed at The Albert Pike Hotel downtown Little Rock by Photography by Melisa, 11815 Mara Lynn, Little Rock or email them at  info@photographybymelisa.com.

When viewing their work ask yourself the following questions:

Do the photos have a sharp, crisp look?
Are the photos overall technically adequate?
Did the photographer capture the emotion of the day?
Are you comfortable and Do you have confidence in this photographer to capture the images you want?

Questions to Ask Your Photographer:

  • How long have you been taking wedding pictures?
  • Can I get references from your last few weddings?
  • What are your prices and what does this price include? Is there an extra charge for proofs?
  • Does the price include an album?
  • Can you provide an itemized agreement of everything included in the package and total cost?
  • Do I have to have all my pictures taken before the wedding? or are you flexible to my desires?
  • Do you have a back up incase of an emergency?
  • Can we give you the list of photos that we want?
  • Will you arrive to capture last-minute preparations?
  • Can you retouch photos? What about Special effects?
  • How long after the wedding can we order additional photos?

RECOMMENDATIONS:

The following is a list of Photographers in Central Arkansas that I personally recommend and know.  They all have varying packages and prices.  I am sure one of them will fit your needs.  Check out their websites and call them for an appointment to see their work.  Although websites are a great way to get a feel for someones work, they do not do portraits justice! A 1 x 2 inch image is not the same as a 16 x 20 on the wall.  GO SEE THEIR WORK!

Larry is so great. He is one of the nicest photographers in Little Rock. You'll understand exactly what I mean within the first 30 seconds of speaking with him. Larry has THE BEST new program going. Its a bridal registry. Here's how it works. You meet with Larry. Walk around his photography studio and choose all the items you would like. Maybe you would like extra shots or more framed photos or a hard bound book with your photographs incorporated into the pages. There are so many new items. Now, let your co-workers, friends, and family know you are registered with Focus Photography. They contribute or purchase the items you chose. Larry contacts you so later you can send the appropriate thank-you notes. Larry told me he started this program so brides on a budget could get all the great items that brides with sky-is-the-limit budgets afford. Another great idea from Larry!

What I like about Amy's work is the way she captures emotions, like in these photos. Amy began her career in the music industry and as a makeup artist. That evolved into an amazing photography career. You can see her work all over At Home in Arkansas magazine. If you want cool and creative photos then Amy is the one for you. She's very nice to boot!

The creative and photojournalistic approach that Melisa and her talented staff uses is simply phenomenal.  Caputuring your most intimate moments is a task that they make look easy and my personal favorites are the pictures that seem the most unimportant at the moment but so monumental later.   The buttons on your dress, the buckles on your shoes, and the glint in his eyes....definitely moments that are unforgettable with their photos.
